Why We Chose the Plants
Chionochloa Rubra is used on mass, bringing texture and color with a loose natural aesthetic that ties in with the surrounding alpine environment. Providing the garden with a pop of flowering interest we have Gaura So White, Perovskia atriplicifolia, Verbena bonariensis and Lavender Hidcote offering bursts of purple and white tones throughout the year.
Pyrus Candelabra were used to provide height and additional screening along the house’s frontage, particularly important for this corner section. Apodasmia, a native sedge, was used in a narrow garden next to the house, perfect for this narrow strip. Shot rock, the local schist stone, is used to dress the garden and ties in with the surrounding landscape, enhancing the modern aesthetic with its natural tones and texture.
