Rose Starlight the Hybrid Tea Rose is a distinctive variety cherished for its luminous lavender to soft mauve flowers, offering a gentle yet captivating colour rarely seen among Hybrid Teas. Each flower is full and shapely, carried on long, sturdy stems ideal for cutting. Flowering begins in late spring and continues in flushes through summer into autumn, with a light, sweet fragrance adding to its charm.

Well suited to rose borders, formal beds, or mixed plantings, it brings subtle colour to cottage, romantic, or contemporary gardens. Plant in full sun with rich, free-draining soil and allow 80–100 cm spacing for healthy air circulation and growth.

Mature size: Forms a bushy, upright shrub reaching approximately 1.2–1.5 metres tall at maturity.

Trimming: Prune in late winter or early spring to shape the shrub and remove any dead, weak or crossing stems. As a floribunda/modern shrub, reduce flowering shoots by about one‑third to encourage fresh, vigorous growth and an open framework for good airflow.

Deadheading: Remove spent flowers regularly throughout the flowering season to promote repeat flowering and keep the plant looking neat.

Fertilising: Apply a balanced rose fertiliser in early spring as new growth begins, then again after the first flush of flowers. Avoid feeding late in the season to reduce risk of soft, frost‑tender growth.

Watering: Water deeply during extended dry spells, especially while the plant is establishing. Keep soil moist but well‑drained and avoid wetting the foliage as much as possible to lower disease risk.

Pest Control: Monitor for aphids, thrips and spider mites on new shoots and buds. Treat early infestations with insecticidal soap or neem oil and encourage beneficial insects.

Disease Management: May be prone to black spot and mildew in humid conditions. Remove any affected leaves promptly, maintain good air circulation through careful pruning, and apply a preventative fungicide if issues persist. Avoid overhead watering to help reduce disease pressure.
