Rose Iceberg. Clusters of nicely-shaped, pure white flowers. Continuous flowering throughout the season. Lovely for flower arrangements.
Trimming: Prune Iceberg bush rose in late winter to early spring. Remove dead, weak or crossing stems first, then shorten the remaining stems to maintain an open, balanced shape and encourage strong new growth. During the season, lightly trim back untidy shoots if needed.
Deadheading: Deadhead regularly to encourage repeat flowering. Cut spent flower clusters back to the first strong outward-facing leaf with five leaflets.
Fertilising: Feed in early spring with a rose fertiliser, then apply a second feed in mid to late summer to support ongoing flowering. Mulching with well-rotted compost in spring will also help improve soil condition and moisture retention.
Watering: Water regularly during the establishment phase. Once established, bush roses should still be watered deeply during extended dry periods, especially in hot or windy weather.
Pest control: Watch for aphids, thrips and two-spotted spider mite. Check young shoots, buds and leaf undersides for insects, distorted growth or fine webbing. Remove pests by hand where practical, hose them off, or use insecticidal soap if required.
Disease management: Iceberg roses can be affected by black spot, powdery mildew and rust. Look for black or orange spots, white powdery growth, or premature leaf drop. Remove affected leaves, avoid wetting the foliage when watering, improve air circulation, and apply a suitable fungicide if the problem persists.
