Hebe Snowdrift. Rounded, bushy shrub with erect branches. Large, narrow mid-green leaves. The long white flowers smother the bush and appear in spring over a long period, attracting birds and bees. It will grow in sun or semi-shade, does best in well-drained soil but will grow in dry sites. Can be used in hedging and gardens, but make sure to trim after flowering to maintain shape. It is often used in revegetation plantings such as riparian. Hardy to cold. Will grow up to 1.5m in height and 1.5 in width.
Trimming: Lightly trim Hebe Snowdrift after flowering to maintain its shape and encourage bushy growth. Avoid heavy pruning as it can be detrimental to the plant.
Deadheading: Remove spent flower spikes to promote additional flowering and keep the plant looking tidy.
Fertilising: Apply a balanced, slow-release fertiliser in early spring to support healthy growth. A mid-summer feed can be beneficial for continued vigour.
Watering: Water regularly during the first year to help establish the plant. Once established, water during prolonged dry periods, particularly in summer.
Pest Control: Inspect for aphids and spider mites. If detected, treat with insecticidal soap or neem oil.
Disease Management: Be vigilant for powdery mildew and root rot. Ensure good air circulation around the plant and avoid overhead watering to prevent powdery mildew. Provide well-draining soil to avoid root rot and remove any affected plant parts. Use fungicides as needed, following the label instructions.
