Notify MeWestringia fruticosa WES02 PVR Aussie Box, commonly known as Westringia Aussie Box, is a compact, evergreen shrub with fine, grey-green foliage and a naturally rounded growth habit. Small white flowers appear sporadically throughout the year, adding subtle charm. Its dense, tidy form makes it an excellent low-maintenance alternative to traditional box hedging.
Perfect for formal, coastal, or contemporary gardens, Westringia Aussie Box thrives in full sun to partial shade and is well-suited to a variety of well-draining soils. Highly drought-tolerant and wind-resistant, it is ideal for exposed areas, low hedging, or as a feature in mixed borders. Space plants 50 cm apart for a seamless hedge.
This hardy shrub grows to a mature height and width of approximately 50–60 cm, forming a neat, rounded shape with minimal pruning required.
Trimming: Lightly prune after flowering or as needed to maintain its natural, compact shape. Regular trimming can encourage dense, tidy growth.
Fertilising: Use a slow-release, low-phosphorus fertiliser in spring. Westringia thrives in nutrient-poor soils, so excessive fertilising is unnecessary.
Watering: Drought-tolerant once established, but occasional deep watering during prolonged dry spells will keep it healthy. Ensure the soil drains well to prevent waterlogging.
Pest Control: Rarely affected by pests, but inspect periodically for aphids or scale and treat as needed with insecticidal soap.
Disease Management: Highly disease-resistant. Ensure well-draining soil to avoid root rot, particularly in heavy soils or wet conditions.
