The blossoms are lightly fragrant and contrast beautifully against the glossy, deep green foliage. With its upright growth and lush, year-round greenery, Snow Dove offers both floral interest and strong structural form, making it a highly versatile landscape tree.
Ideal for woodland, formal, subtropical, or contemporary garden styles, Snow Dove works beautifully as a specimen tree, screen, or feature near patios and walkways where its early flowering can be appreciated.
Thrives in full sun to partial shade with rich, well-drained soil. Protect from strong winds and heavy frost in colder regions, particularly during early flowering. Space approximately 3-4 metres apart when planting in rows or groups.
Grows to around 4-6 metres tall and 2.5-3.5 metres wide when mature, forming a graceful, upright tree with long-lasting seasonal flowers and dense evergreen foliage.
Trimming: Prune lightly after flowering to maintain shape and remove any dead, crowded, or crossing branches. Avoid heavy pruning, as it may reduce flowering the following year and disrupt the plant’s elegant structure.
Fertilising: Apply a balanced, slow-release fertiliser in early spring. For optimal flowering and foliage health, top-dress annually with compost or well-rotted manure.
Watering: Water regularly during the first two years to establish a strong root system. Once established, it is relatively tolerant of dry periods, but consistent moisture through the warmer months will support better flowering and growth.
Pest Control: Generally pest-free. Occasionally susceptible to scale or aphids—inspect new growth and treat early with insecticidal soap or neem oil if necessary.
Disease Management: Rarely affected by disease. Ensure good drainage and avoid prolonged wet conditions to prevent root issues. Improve airflow through careful pruning if fungal spotting appears on foliage.
