Peony 'Bowl of Beauty' is a striking herbaceous variety known for its large, semi-double flowers with a unique two-tone effect. The outer petals are a vibrant rose-pink, elegantly surrounding a centre of soft, creamy-yellow petaloids. Flowering in late spring to early summer, this peony is highly floriferous and lightly fragrant. Strong stems support the showy flowers, making it an excellent choice for both garden display and cut arrangements. The deep green foliage remains attractive throughout the season, adding texture and contrast.
Ideal for garden beds, borders, and cut flower gardens. Adds vibrant colour and structure to perennial plantings.
Thrives in full sun to partial shade in fertile, well-draining soil. Space plants approximately 60 cm apart to allow for healthy growth and airflow.
Grows to around 80–90 cm tall and 60–80 cm wide.
Trimming: Cut back foliage to ground level in late autumn after it has died back to promote strong regrowth in spring.
Deadheading: Remove spent flowers to keep the plant tidy and encourage energy storage in the roots rather than seed production.
Fertilising: Apply a balanced fertiliser in early spring as new growth emerges. After flowering, switch to a low-nitrogen fertiliser to support root health and next year’s flowering. Avoid excessive feeding, as this can reduce flower production.
Watering: Keep soil consistently moist during the growing season, particularly in dry periods. Water deeply and infrequently to encourage strong root development.
Pest Control: Monitor for aphids on new shoots and treat with insecticidal soap or a strong jet of water if necessary.
Disease Management: Peonies can be prone to botrytis blight, which causes blackened stems and bud rot. Remove affected growth immediately and ensure good air circulation. Avoid overhead watering to reduce fungal risks. A copper-based fungicide may help if problems persist.
