Hebe Lilac Mist
Hebe Lilac Mist is a compact, evergreen shrub with masses of delicate, pale lilac flowers that appear from late Spring through to early Autumn. Its rounded shape and subtle colouring make it a versatile choice for mixed borders, low hedging, or feature planting.
Ideal for pollinator-friendly spaces, Hebe Lilac Mist works well in coastal, contemporary, or cottage-style gardens. It prefers a sunny to partially shaded position with free-draining soil and moderate moisture levels. Space approximately 60 cm apart when planting to allow for healthy air circulation and growth.
Forms a tidy, rounded shrub approximately 45 cm high and 50 cm wide
Trimming: Lightly trim after flowering to maintain a compact shape and encourage bushy growth. Avoid hard pruning into old wood, as regrowth may be limited.
Deadheading: Remove spent flower spikes to tidy the plant and promote a tidy appearance, though this is not essential for reflowering.
Fertilising: Apply a general-purpose slow-release fertiliser in early spring to support healthy growth and flowering.
Watering: Water regularly during the establishment phase and in extended dry periods. Hebes prefer free-draining soil and dislike waterlogged conditions.
Pest Control: Watch for aphids and scale insects. Treat infestations with horticultural oil or insecticidal soap as needed.
Disease Management: Root rot can occur in poorly drained soil—ensure good drainage. Occasionally susceptible to powdery mildew; remove affected foliage and apply a suitable fungicide if necessary.
